HURRICANE HELENE UPDATE 9/30/24

DEBRIS REMOVAL

A debris removal team has begun removing debris and will continue tomorrow morning, Tuesday, October 1st.  Tomorrow’s crew will focus on removing heavy household furnishings – mattresses, couches, large pieces of furniture, etc. The crews will get to as many homes as possible in one day. Assessments will be ongoing, and the crews will shift focus to another debris item when appropriate. These are private providers unrelated to our contracted waste removal company Waste Connections.

Regular waste removal will also occur tomorrow, Tuesday, October 1st. Waste Connections will remove household TRASH from cans or plastic garbage bags.  This is the waste that probably came out of your refrigerators, freezers, and pantries. If possible, separate trash from the debris.

Please keep the streets clear of debris and vehicles so emergency vehicles and the debris removers can get through.
