POST MILTON UPDATE 10/12/24
For those of you who evacuated ahead of Hurricane Milton, thank you for doing so. The threat was real. If you can continue to shelter in place, please do so. If you have returned from where you sought shelter, please use caution when driving on our town roads. Watch out for low-hanging cables, broken glass and other hazards. There are still several major intersections affected by power outages and drivers are urged to use caution in these areas.
The Town resumed debris removal operations on Friday and will continue throughout the day today, Saturday. Please understand that the request to separate debris into piles of different types is important to the removal process. FEMA guidelines for Disaster Debris Removal are strict and in order for the Town to receive reimbursement for this immense expense, we must follow their regulations. Construction and demolition debris (furniture, cabinets, mattresses, carpets, etc.) will continue to be the only type of debris we are moving into the temporary staging area where it is monitored and loaded into haulers. We will announce the next type of debris to removed when that information is received. You can hire a private hauler to remove your debris at your own expense if you chose.
